If youre surfing this site, youre either a first time
homebuyer or just cruising this page to discover what info you shouldve known or
considered when you first purchased your house. Or youre not even thinking of buying
a house just surfing. Whatever-this page is directed toward the first time homebuyer.
As an individual whose thinking of purchasing a house for the first time,
congratulations. It is a wonderful juncture in life to be able to own an abode that is
your own. It can also be an excellent investment. The investment is not only monetary, but
soulful. Heres why.
When you own a piece of property, you not only own the land and the dwelling upon it,
you also own the surface. You own the subsurface rights on the property as well as the air
rights. Since you own the air rights to your piece of property, what you have in terms of
property ownership and space reaches out to touch the hand of God. Your piece of the rock,
be it a house, townhouse, condo, mobile home, or co-op have the aforementioned rights in
some capacity. You as a buyer have spent X amount of dollars to purchase those rights. And
that means you own a piece of the earth which is Gods Creation. A soulful
investment.
Now what does that have to do with you buying a house? Stay with me. The term, first
time homebuyer, is a misnomer. Why? Because a house is not a Home, until its been lived
in. For instance, ever been in a house thats been lived in extremely hard? Ever been
in a house where the love and good vibes of the occupants still permeate the residence?
Those feelings you experienced when you entered those houses, told you if it were a
home or a house where people lived. You will make the house you buy either stay a house or
become your home. Think of where the neighborhood kids would hang out. Or think of the
dorm room or apartment where the crew would chill. Are you ready to have those feelings of
love, ownership, good times/bad times, all centered at one address on planet earth for X
number of years? If you answered yes-read on.
Being ready to buy a house is dependent on three basic criteria. Its a trinity if
you will. A strong three tier foundation.
1. Spiritual- Ask (in prayer), seek (look for it) and knock (on the doors) for the
right house & guidance that the site you choose will become your home.
2. The Paperwork- Any real estate transaction requires particular legal documentation
that you should read, review, and understand before you sign. Use a Realtor & an
attorney you trust to guide you through the process.
3. The Money- The seller expects X dollars for the property. You are stating in buying
the house for X +/- dollars, the value of the house.
Understanding the above is the first REAL step in owning a home.
